The Best Week

There’s nothing official that says to pack it in after Labor Day. Hell, it isn’t even the same date each year. We say “nay” to this holiday as the arbitrary end of summer. In that spirit we offer The Best Week for Sept!

Go big with craft brews to start the week. Oyster Bay Brewery is expanding. After downing a few Barn Rockers, saunter over to neighboring Canterbury’s Oyster Bar & Grill for nosh. Or don’t—they deliver to the brewery now.

Catch Austrian psychothriller Goodnight Mommy at Island 16 Cinema de Lux then dig into some comfort food from Mama Lombardi’s in Holbrook (Pulse cannot be held responsible for any conflicting “mommy issues” that may arise).

It’s paint night date night! This sip-and-splatter, drink-and-draw event is trending all across the Island. Tonight, the Swan Club catering hall in Roslyn hosts an official PaintNite affair, “palette-able” for any post-work outing.

The Whitney expansion is all it’s hyped up to be and more. Make a trip to this re-invented and invigorated art space. Once Midtown traffic is in the rearview, jump off the Expressway for IndianAsian fusion at West East Bistro in Hicksville.

Dine at The End. The summer sun is waning, but so is the traffic. It’s the time to savor the fading rays by enjoying the best. Our four-star review of Scarpetta Beach in Montauk speaks volumes. The panoramic ocean views alone are worth the trip.

Get to paddling on the numerous waterways of the South Shore’s Blueway trail, the surf off Gilgo Beach or placid Lake Ronkonkoma. Can’t decide? No worries, our packable kayak pick is adjustable to suit any aquatic Long Island excursion.

Polo is the sport of kings with deep roots on Long Island. Grab a match of these equine athletics at Bethpage Polo in the Park. Complete the thought by treating yourself to a kingly feast (and cooling your horses) at the Palm Court at The Carltun in Eisenhower Park.
