These give-away restaurant matchboxes from Carol A. Tanzi, Interior Designer aka The Goddess of Garbage can be up-cycled into little “works of art” for the table. EitherĀ of these decorative fall foliage matchboxes paired with candles makes a thoughtful hostess gift for an early autumn gathering.

What You Need

4 matchboxes (restaurant give-a-ways)
Lightweight cardboard
Felt, decorative paper or photo from magazine
1/4″ grosgrain ribbon
Glue gun
White glue
Natural/artificial leaves, berries and acorns
Crepe paper, candy paper cups, initial logo

What to Do

1. Glue 4 boxes into a square allowing strikers to face out
2. Cut 1/4″ ribbon into four 1″ tabs, fold over evenly and glue underneath, in the middle of the four matchboxes
3. Cut two squares of cardboard 1/8″ larger than the size of the four glued boxes
4. Glue felt to each side of cardboard squares (four)
5. Glue felt covered squares to the top and bottom of matchboxes, showing a 1/8″ border
6. Glue natural/artificial leaves, berries, acorns to top of box
