This Stony Brook eatery is a small haunt known for seasonal Italian dishes and cocktails. Dave Marzano’s Pumpkin Patch blends spices and bitter for a cocktail that warms the soul on a dark and stormy night.
The Pumpkin Patch
Ingredients
1.75oz Bourbon (I like Elijah Craig small batch for this)
.5oz Pumpkin Cordial (I like Vapor Distilling Pumpkin King Cordial out of Boulder, CO)
5 drops Aromatic Bitters (Fee brothers are made in Rochester, New York and are driven by cinnamon in their flavor profile)
2 leaves sage
1 orange peel
Freshly grated nutmeg
Instructions
Muddle the cordial with bitters, one sage leaf and orange peel in a mixing glass.
Add bourbon and cracked ice cubes.
Stir and strain into an ice filled old fashioned glass.
Garnish with an additional leaf of sage and some freshly grated nutmeg.
Serve alongside spices and roasted nuts on a (hopefully) chilly evening
