What: Two on Tap: Happy Holidays at The Gateway Playhouse

 Have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny Kaye when this song-and-dance duo takes the stage at the Gateway. Showcasing classic holiday numbers and toe-tapping choreography, Two on Tap calls to mind Broadway’s golden era with grace and humor. Showtimes are 8pm on Friday and 3pm on Sunday; tickets start at $30. Go.

 Garden City

What: Garden City Village Tree Lighting
Where: Garden City

Why Go:
 An annual tradition for more than 60 years, the tree lighting held at the iconic gazebo across from the Garden City Hotel is a family favorite. Performances from local musicians are accompanied by hot chocolate and cookies. As the main event, Santa arrives via fire truck to help the mayor light the tree. Festivities kick off at 3:30pm. Go.

Manhasset

What: Champions for Charity
Where: Americana Manhasset

Why Go:
  Shop for a cause Dec. 3-Dec. 6 at Americana Manhasset. During Champions for Charity 25 percent of designated full-price, pre-tax sales at all Americana Manhasset stores are donated to a participating charity of the shoppers’ choice when the shopper presents their complimentary Champion Card.  Go.

Patchogue

What: Clara’s Dream: The Nutcracker

Don’t miss the annual display of the American Dance Theatre of Long Island’s “Clara’s Dream, The Nutcracker.” Experience the magic of dancing flowers, waltzing snowflakes and toys that come to life on stage. Go.

Where: Shorefront Park, Patchogue

Why Go:
 Run for a cause this holiday season and help the Patchogue Kiwanis collect unwrapped toys for in need children. Go.

Port Jefferson

What: Charles Dickens 20th Annual Festival
Where: Port Jefferson Village

Why Go:
 Join the festivities to celebrate the famous author with Santa’s Workshop, Dickens Trolley, horse and carriage rides and free concerts. Sit back and enjoy the parade, go back in time with Scrooge and enter the gingerbread contest. Go.

Riverhead

What: Wine & Gingerbread Nights

Enroll in Gingerbread University to construct a candied home while sipping on Long Island wines. Go.

Westbury

What: Holiday Doo Wop Extravaganza
Where: NYCB Theatre

 Dust off the poodle skirt and warm up those vocal chords. The Legendary Teenagers, The Marcels, Lenny Coco and the Original Chimes and many more are coming to town to bring back the 50s with doo wop tunes that will get the crowd dancing and reminiscing. Go.
