Why Go: Visit Santa at the Tudor revival mansion, listen to Madrigal Singers, make a gingerbread house and relax and enjoy the performance of A Fairy Tale Winter by Plaza Theatrical Productions. While there, visit the Poinsettia & Cyclamen Display in the main greenhouse. Go.

Why Go: Enroll in Gingerbread University to construct a candied home while sipping on Long Island wines. Go.

Why Go: Celebrate the season at the Long Island Aquarium’s annual Santa Brunch. Enjoy a delicious buffet brunch in the beautiful Sea Star Ballroom, make a special take-home holiday keepsake and don’t forget the camera to capture a family photo with Santa. Go.
What: Not Quite Christmas Cabaret
Where: Hempstead House
When: Dec. 12, 7-9pm
Why Go: Broadway’s Steve Lutvak returns to the Sands Point Preserve for the annual Not Quite Christmas Cabaret. This year the cabaret will take place at the Hempstead House, once the home of Daniel and Florence Guggenheim, who lavishly entertained their guests inside the extraordinary Gold Coast mansion. Lutvak is bringing along a starry lineup that includes Catherine Walker, Jeff Kready and Catherine Porter. This year’s Not Quite Christmas Cabaret marks the first time Lutvak brings a night of his original music, including standalone songs and selections from A Gentleman’s Guide, Esmeralda, Stuff Comes Out, and The Wayside Inn, a show based on an A.R. Gurney play–to the Preserve. Go.
What: Holiday Tales at the Hearth
Where: Hempstead House
When: Dec. 13, 12-3pm
Why Go: Join the holiday cheer at Hempstead House with carolers, children’s crafts, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Special guest readers share favorite stories by the library’s roaring fireplace, with a backdrop of traditional music of the season. Children should bring their holiday wish lists and letters for Santa, and deliver them in person. Hear the wonderful Wurlitzer Opus 442 Theatre Organ. Festive refreshments will be provided. Go.
