How to Wear Sparkles During the Day

The holiday season gifts us a sparkly wonderland. Sparkly ornaments, sparkly gift wrap and of course, sparkly outfits. Glitter and sequins tend to be thought of as night-out attire, but there’s no reason you can’t add a little glitz to your daytime getup. This time of year especially, it’s a great way to make your day-to-night transition a little easier. Shimmer before sunset without looking like a disco ball in these three looks.

Cute Kicks

For the past two years, the fashion world has shown us that sneakers are no longer just for the gym. Chanel and Dior sent sparkly kicks down the Haute Couture Fashion Week runway in 2014 and the athleisure trend has only grown since. Before you head out for another round of holiday shopping, lace up a pair of shiny sneaks. It’s a fun touch to your long sleeve-crewneck-and-jeans weekend uniform we wouldn’t dream of asking you to change up.

Office Appropriate Skirt

Add some shine to your 9-5 grind. A swingy—not body-con—skirt with a hem that hits just below the knee and pointy toe flats glitter without breaking the office dress code. A boxy sweater in a neutral tone lends balance to the outfit.

Just a Touch

You’re feeling timid but still want to add a little extra to your daytime outfit. Try easing into the look with an oversized jewel clutch that can hold your cell phone, wallet and makeup without weighing you down. Let the sparkle make the statement by pairing it with jeans and a neutral sweater or leggings and a cape.
