What: Earth Day Celebration
Where: Bayard Cutting Arboretum
When: Friday, April 29 10am-4pm
Why Go: A free-range chicken coop tour, grounds tour, tree planting, yoga and other family events will take place at the Suffolk County arboretum and Manor House. Attendees will have the opportunity to build a bird feeder, participate in a scavenger hunt and enjoy a “waste free” lunch. Go.
What: The 16th Annual Tulip Festival
When: Sunday, May 1 11am-4pm
Where: Heckscher Park
Why Go: Stop and smell the tulips! Gather around the historic park with family and friends to view thousands of tulips blossoming. Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, founder of the festival, and chief sponsor Astoria Bank invite Islanders for live music, entertainment and activities. Go.
What: 2016 Long Island Marathon
When: Friday, April 29-Monday, May 1
Why Go: Cheer on runners from around the country and Tri-State area at the annual Long Island Marathon Weekend. Friday kicks off with the Sports & Fitness Expo at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow and the Mitchel Athletic Complex. Saturday is the 5K, 1 mile run and a kid’s fun run inside Mitchel Athletic Complex. Sunday is the main event with marathon, half marathon and 10K participants starting together on Charles Lindbergh Blvd. The Finish Line Festival will have live music and refreshments. Go.
