Honig Grill Brings the Taste of Napa Valley to Long Island

Wine. Stunning views. Relaxed getaway. Wine. Hear the words Napa Valley and chances are a few of those things will immediately come to mind. They’re also the inspiration behind the Honig Grill in Woodbury. Opened in March by New York restaurateurs Brian Galligan and Steven Raia and Napa Valley wine producers Honig Vineyard and Winery, the restaurant has basically bottled up everything there is to love about Napa and placed it in a 4,000-square foot restaurant.

“Honig Grill has created a true grill experience from the east, New York and the best winemaking traditions of the west, Napa Valley. While thousands of miles apart, we are perfectly aligned in our vision, passion and authenticity,” said Michael Honig, president of Honig Vineyard and Winery and one of the restaurant collaborators.

Stepping into Honig Grill is almost like strolling through Honig Vineyard and Winery in Rutherford, California. There’s a rural feel with grapevines, barrels and open space that evoke the nature you’re surrounded by there. It’s relaxed with a spring garden party vibe.

The wines and food complete the atmosphere. The owners with the help of Honig curate the wines, a selection from Hoing and other northern California vineyards. Chef Richard D’Orazi created a menu of fare that mirrors Napa Valley cuisine. Think Yellowfin Tuna Tartar with avocado wasabi and soy broth, Burrata & Basil on Mesclun Greens accompanied by beefsteak tomatoes, Bone-In Rib Steak (24oz.) and Pan Seared Branzino sautéed in Honig Sauvignon Blanc, lemon and caper sauce.

All the attitude and style of Napa Valley with a New York practicality.

Honig Grill is at 8289 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury.
