Kittens and Dogs Looking for More Than a Spring Fling

Spring flings were so seventh grade. The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is bustling with lovable, adoptable pets looking for something a little more special: a place to call home.

Only six weeks old, Fin, Flipper, Shrimp, Shamu, Orca and Shamu are already well trained in inducing “awwwws.” The kittens love to romp with each other, play with toys and look up at their two-legged friends with their tiny blue eyes.

You don’t have to throw the ball for Bernie. He can flick it up with his paws and play with it himself. But he’s still a big fan of a good game of fetch and a sunbeam. The five-year-old fella came to the shelter as a stray but is still as happy-go-lucky as they come and could make a great family pet.

Esperanza, nicknamed Espy, came all the way from Puerto Rico to find her forever home. A five-year-old labrador retriever, Espy can be shy at first but once she warms up to you she’ll be your friend for life. She’s great on a leash and would be the perfect partner for a leisurely sunset stroll.

There’s no shame in being a couch potato and if you’re looking for a friend to keep you company as you empty out your Netflix queue, Buttercup could be your gal. The 11-year-old came to the shelter after her owner could no longer care for her. She loves a good scratch and snuggle, and that adorable mug will make it hard to resist providing her with a forever couch for her golden years.
