Where to Listen to Live Music This June

Summer’s here and the time is right for catching some live music. Our picks for June run the gamut from back alley blues to retro surf rock.

5th–Act 1 Blockfest ‘16
Michael E Reilly Memorial Park, Patchogue

Long Island’s summer music festival season continues with this community event in support of non-profit organizations. This year’s lineup features stellar local players such as The Stanton Anderson Band, Kerry Kearney, Sweet Suzi, Pamela Betti and Big Daddy & The Bulldogs.

15th–Allen Santoriello & The Gun Slingers
Lighthouse Waterfront Café, Glen Cove
Santoriello, former front man for both the Little Wilson and Cadillac Moon bands, makes a highly anticipated return to the Long Island scene when he performs at a venue which is being booked by the inimitable “Eppy” Epstein, the former owner of the legendary My Father’s Place rock club.

17th–Jack’s Waterfall
The Boulton Center, Bay Shore
One of the Island’s major singer-songwriters performs a high energy concert celebrating the release of his latest album, Tribal Dance Party. Besides the music, there will be a drum circle and psychic readings in the lounge.

18th–Blue Roots
Nawlins Seafood Company, Freeport

The tasty sounds of this veteran blues combo makes a nice pairing with the authentic Gumbo Ya-Ya cuisine and New Orleans atmosphere at this new Cajun/Creole inspired eatery on the Nautical Mile.

24th–Shecky & The Twangtones
Still Partners, Sea Cliff

Make a point of catching this combo’s eclectic mix of retro surf, reggae and soul music. Before you know it, you’ll be dancing in a hypnotic state of Twangtonia!
