There’s a new brunch game in town. The Chequit’s Red Maple has launched a lunch and brunch menu and boy is it welcome news! Red Maple, named after the Red Maple tree planted in the middle of the eatery’s outdoor terrace, offers a quieter alternative to the boisterous atmosphere you’re bound to encounter at most of the East End’s other popular spots–meaning you can roll up here without your Loubies and immaculately coiffed hair and actually de-stress while your grass-deprived eyes take in the beautiful surroundings. As you enjoy the view, order a standout dish (or two) that have locals and summer guests flocking to the chic, locally-focused eatery.
Traditional Eggs Benedict
No brunch menu would be complete without the classic Eggs Benny. Red Maple’s version comes with a toasted English muffin, poached eggs and Canadian-style bacon, all slathered in heavenly homemade hollandaise sauce. Hey, life can’t be all green juice, all the time.
Scrambles
Satisfying for both meat eaters and vegetarians, dig into one of Red Maple’s tasty scrambled egg dishes with choices including sausage, spinach and fontina and caramelized onions and gruyere. The pre-beach nosh is rounded out with a side of toast and oven-roasted hash brown cake.
Brioche French Toast
Buttery and delicious, Red Maple’s French toast comes with fresh orange zest and fresh Maple syrup. Keeping your dining companion’s fork off this dish is about as challenging as getting a prime time table at Nick and Toni’s.
Pancakes
This summer expect a rotating chef’s selection of fluffy pancakes featuring fresh fruit flavors like local blueberries and bananas. Jack Johnson sing-along optional.
Red Maple Burger
The signature Red Maple Burger is perfect for those looking for a heartier option. It’s topped with quick pickled cucumbers, caramelized onion, cheddar cheese, ketchup and garlic aioli, all serviced on a brioche bun. Thick cut fries with ketchup for dipping complete the dish.
*Bonus* Drink Pitchers
Iced Americanos and a fresh cup of OJ aside, no brunch could be complete without one (or two) glasses of boozy liquid refreshments. Red Maple is now offering Drink Pitchers including local Shelter Island Brewery’s Liquid Sunshine Wheat Ale and D.B. PIMMʼS CUP, which comes mixed with Pimms No. 1, lemon lime soda, ginger ale, cucumber, apple, strawberry and mint. Sounds like the perfect Sunday formula to me.
