A little home court advantage mixed with a vast craft beer and burger menu makes the Tap Room in Patchogue a strong contender in this weekend’s Great Burger Battle. The Main Street favorite’s craft boasts burgers so creative, it’s anyone’s guess what the Tap Room will come up with this Sunday. I stopped in for a taste of what’s to come.
Veggie lovers—this one’s for you. Opt for a burger served on a warm flour tortilla with all the classic fixings like lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. Make the meal more nutritional by choosing one of the Tap Room’s house-made turkey burgers or a spiced vegetarian patty. Round off those lighter choices by siding the wrap with a basket of crispy sweet potato fries.
Fire House Burger
People with a never-ending love for bacon can find a new faithful companion in the Fire House Burger, a 50/50 blend that comes with half beef and half bacon. The bacon in the patty pairs perfectly with the smoked bacon in the jalapeño popper perched on top. Just as the heat from the jalapeño starts to singe tastebuds, the melted asadero cheese kicks in to cool indulgers down.
Mac & Cheese Burger
This burger is a prime example of why “cheddar makes everything better.” Topped with fried mac & cheese bites and melted cheddar cheese it is a cheese lover’s paradise. The fig jam and pickled red onions give each bite a nice sweet crunch.
Shrooms & Blubs
Sautéed button mushrooms, caramelized onions and a thick slice of melted Swiss give the Tap Room’s classic burger a savory twist. Pair the prime cut of beef with an order of the truffle fries for a rich dining experience.
Whisky is the name of the game with this juicy patty, which comes on a soft toasted brioche bun. Two pieces of Jameson infused bacon are placed over the signature burger and finished with a dollop of homemade whiskey sauce for the ultimate salty yet tangy kick.
Tell us: Is the Tap Room your early favorite to win it all this Sunday?
