What to Watch on Netflix This September

Netflix is offering a wide variety of content this September, including popular crime shows, an array of documentaries and a highly anticipated addition to the Marvel series. Get ready to sit back, relax and…binge in a cozy spot as the weather starts to cool down.

Marvel Madness: Luke Cage

Netflix’s partnership with Marvel continues with the release of Luke Cage this month. It’s not his first appearance on the network, as he showed up in Jessica Jones, but now the defender (played by Mike Colter) has his own series. He protects Harlem from corruption and criminals, including shady nightclub owner Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali). Alfre Woodard also stars in the series as Mariah Dillard, a local politician and Stokes’ cousin. Season 1 drops Sept. 30.

True Stories: Chef’s Table, The White Helmets, Amanda Knox

The culinary documentary series Chef’s Table will make a slight change in season 3. Instead of traveling the world and profiling chefs who specialize in different cuisines, this season will focus on those who cook in the French tradition. Drops Sept. 2. The White Helmets is a documentary that will tell the story of volunteer rescue workers in Aleppo, Syria. Drops Sept. 16. Hoping to duplicate the success of Making A Murderer Netflix will release Amanda Knox this month. The documentary will examine the controversial murder trial and the worldwide spectacle that followed. Drops Sept. 30.

Crime Time: Narcos, From Dusk Till Dawn & Longmire

The supernatural crime series From Dusk Till Dawn continues following the exploits of the Gecko brothers. Season 3 drops Sept. 7 (Netflix, Sept. 6 El Rey Network). Narcos Season 2 chronicles drug kingpin Pablo Escobar’s escape from prison and probable demise. Drops Sept. 2. Longmire, which follows Sheriff Walt as he solves crimes in Wyoming, returns at the end of the month. Drops Sept. 23.

Funny Business: Easy & Iliza Shlesinger: Confirmed Kills

Easy is a unique comedy series from Joe Swanberg (Kissing On The Mouth, Hannah Takes The Stairs). Set in Chicago, the anthology series will feature a diverse group tackling issues such as love, technology, sex and culture. The cast will include big names like Orlando Bloom and Malin Akerman. Drops Sept. 22. Comedian Iliza Shlesinger returns to Netflix with her second stand up special Iliza Shlesinger: Confirmed Kills, filmed in Chicago. Drops Sept. 23.
