There’s nothing like curling up on the couch with your furry friend, especially as the cold weather sweeps in. North Shore Animal League America in Port Washington has five four-legged companions ready to become part of the family (and your new Netflix-watching partner).
There’s a pair of country stars residing at North Shore. Tim McGraw and Luke Bryan are (three-four) year-old rat terrier mixes that were rescued from Tennessee. They need to be adopted together because of the strong bond they formed with one another. They will do best in a home with a fenced-in yard and children over the age of six. Rat terriers can be impulsive explorers, having their nose on the chase to appease their sense of adventure.
Rocky is an 11-year-old chow mix. His owner recently passed away, which is why he is back at the shelter. Rocky is fiercely loyal and like other chow chow’s he never fails to attract admiration and attention.
Kevin is an energetic eight-month-old Border collie mix. He was rescued from the Mid-West and requires a household with another confident dog to help him overcome his fears. Border collies are part of the herding group and pure instinct prompts them to gently corral other animals or children of the family.
Anakin is a spunky seven-month-old Shepherd husky mix. He was recently rescued from a shelter in Tennessee and still has a lot of growing to do. His gentleness and obedience make him a great family pet, common Shepherd husky traits.
