Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse, Bellport

For eight years, Long Island’s oldest professional theater has been transformed into a labyrinth filled with haunting realities. Animatronics generate some of the ghost and howling noises, crashing walls create uneasiness and the actors mold themselves into gruesome creatures that will send you screaming in minutes. Go.

The only thing worse than being alone in a haunted house is finding out that you aren’t. The Bayville Adventure Park highlights five terrifying attractions every year from The Temple of Terror to the Curse of the Zombie Pirates that will scare the bejesus out of you. Go.

Darkside Haunted House, Wading River 

You can run, but you can’t hide. More than 30 creepy scenes, pop-out scares and 14,000 square feet of terror are part of the architecture of this haunted mansion. Enter the outdoor village or go inside the house at your own risk. Go.

NYZ Apocalypse, Deer Park

Welcome to the epicenter of supernatural activity. There’s an underground prison system of jail cells, where the undead roam through medical labs and offices that are armed with laser guns. See if you can survive the zombie apocalypse. Go.

Chamber of Horrors, Hauppauge

Eleven months are spent creating the three fright-filled haunted attractions that make up Hauppauge’s Chamber of Horrors. This year features the likes of Murder Row, Maniac Manor and Ward 9. Beware of who (or what) may be prowling in the darkness. Go.

Hempstead House of Horrors, Sands Point

Dance with terror, only if you can stomach it. The mysterious ghosts of the former Guggenheim Estate are coming to life in the massive 50,000-square-foot mansion, including the subterranean dungeon. Warning: no one is safe. Go.

The Haunted Mansion of Melville, Melville

This house honors over 20 years of inflicting horror. Brave the bloodstained psychos or don’t come back (but you may not even have that choice). Go.
