Why Go: Watch A Christmas Carol come to life in downtown Port Jefferson. The two-day Dickens-era holiday celebration features Santa’s Workshop, carolers in costume, horse and carriage rides, ice skating, free concerts and more. Twilight Tours of Decorated Vanderbilt Mansion

Why Go: Each holiday season, local garden clubs and decorators deck the halls of the stunning Vanderbilt Mansion. While the museum regularly hosts daytime guided visits to the fully decorated historic home throughout the month of December, this year give their special two-day only Twilight Tours a try. The Christmas Boutique at Osprey’s Dominion Vineyards
