Nothing says Christmas time more than a beautiful pine tree. Instead of picking one up at your local hardware store, opt for a more interactive experience by cutting down your own Fraser Fir. The whole family can get involved, making for an afternoon for the memory books. Seven Long Island Christmas tree farms are already in the holiday spirit.
Lewin Farm, Calverton
Ride a tractor through the field and search through rows of firs, spruces and pines for a perfect Christmas centerpiece. Lewin Farm has trees ranging from one to 15 feet and is known for providing a large variety of saplings both in the fields and by the entrance, as pre-cut trees. Go.
Shamrock Christmas Tree Farm, Mattituck
This family-owned and operated Christmas tree farm is situated on 20 acres of land on Elijah Lane and is lauded for some of the best shrubs on the Island. After finding the perfect tree, take pictures with Santa, enjoy holiday carolers and stay warm with fresh brewed coffee and sweet hot chocolate on premise. Go.
Dart’s Christmas Tree Farm, Southold
This 3rd generation family farm is one of the North Fork’s go-to places for Christmas trees. Its family friendly environment is the ideal setting for an afternoon of holiday fun, and, on the weekends, Santa will fly in to join the festivities. Go.
Zuhoski Farm, Cutchogue
Once a vegetable and potato farm, the Zuhoski family flipped this location into a nursery, open every weekend during the Christmas season for your cutting pleasure. Prepare to also find wreaths, pine roping, kissing balls, grave blankets and centerpieces. Go.
Santa’s Christmas Tree Farm, Cutchogue
Santa’s Christmas Tree farm is the ideal North Fork gem for first timers—offering tips on how to cut and care for your tree. While you’re there make sure to tour the holiday store, enjoy hot-spiced apple cider samples and partake in face painting and holiday hayrides with the kids. Go.
Mike’s Christmas Tree Farm, Manorville
Bring the family out, pick a tree and then enjoy music and tractor rides. Best part is, Mike’s is pet friendly. Go.
Elwood Christmas Tree Farm, Huntington
Elwood’s does the dirty work for you. Come with a saw and chop down your own, or pick one out and an employee will take care of business (but that’s part of the fun). Go.
