A new paint and sip studio in Rockville Centre is providing residents with a buzz-worthy escape from the cold. Owners Pamela and Juan Parades of Wine & Design Syosset thought it was time to open a second location in a town filled with nightlife.
“The nightlife in Rockville Centre has a lot of restaurants and bars,” said Pam, who opened the Rockville Centre location in November. “We wanted to provide another option for the community to socialize and get creative.”
Although it does encourage customers to bring their own wine and snacks, Wine & Design sells wine on premise, unlike many other paint and sip studios. All customers have to do is “sign up, show up, sip up and paint.”
“Paint and sip is still fairly new,” said Pam. “Everyone loves doing something new and fun, so this is the perfect combination of both.”
Customers are drawn to the energetic, social environment where Wine & Design gives happy hour an artistic flare. Decorated with art from previous paint nights, the rooms have multiple tables equipped with personal art stations including easels and paint.
Wine & Design specializes in birthday celebrations, bachelorette parties, baby showers and team building experiences. It also offers date nights for couples, where pairs work on pieces together. Some date nights, including this year’s Valentine’s Day class, will include the ‘Picasso,’ where couples have the opportunity to paint each other.
But those who consider pets the apple of their eye are in luck. Wine & Design offers pet night, where customers submit a photo of their fur babies prior to the class, and the photo is painted by one of the artists or printed onto a canvas for customers to paint.
“One thing all pet owners have in common is that, well, they love their pets…and painting their pets,” said Pam.
For those who can’t make it to the studio, Wine & Design can come to the home or venue of choice. Through their Wine & Design On Wheels program, the studio takes care of all the details from supplies and setup to artist instruction and cleanup.
Wine & Design also looks to give back to the community. The Wine & Design Paint It Forward program provides a way for patrons to raise money and bring awareness to any cause. The eatery hosts private or public painting parties and donates a portion of those proceeds to local or national organizations. The Parades recently had a Dress for Success fundraiser where they raised more than $1,000 for women going back into the workforce. The hope is to further develop a community knit atmosphere in Rockville Centre.
“I would eventually like to team up with local businesses where people can go and eat and then come to paint,” said Pam.
