Famous homes may seem a dime a dozen out East, but cinephiles and Kennedy family enthusiasts may want to start pooling money together for this one: The East Hampton home used to shoot 1975 documentary film Grey Gardens is for sale for nearly $20 million, as listed by The Corcoran Group.
The documentary was adapted into a stage musical in 2008. Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore starred in an HBO documentary based on the story in 2009.
Don’t worry, the place has cleaned up well since the documentary showed “Little Edie” Beale and her mother Edith Bouvier Beale, once-well-to-do relatives of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, living in squalor in a decaying home. Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn and her husband and Post executive editor Bill Bradlee purchased the home for $600,000 in 1979 and did some serious renovating. It comes with a pool, seven bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms, hence the asking price.
Bradley died in 2014 and Quinn told the Wall Street Journal the home “wasn’t the same without him.”
