One of Long Island’s favorite local coffee shops will be taking its brews to the next level this June. Kookaburra Coffee of Rockville Centre is planning a second location in Malverne that will seat up to 16, an incredible step for a hyper local shop.
Kookaburra Coffee’s reputation was built on craft coffee-making, something Rockville Centre Manager Ricardo Arias is passionate about. In the 10 years since it first opened its doors, the shop has been teaching locals the basics about their cup-o-joe, serving up unique roasts, pour overs, cold brew and even house-made flavors and syrups. Arias promises all of these will be available in the new Malverne location, to be managed by Chris DelGatto.
“We will feature a pour over station, and brewing daily roasted single origin coffee as well as our signature blends,” said Arias. Kookaburra Malverne will also serve freshly baked items made on premise, fresh juices, nitro cold brew and feature a fruit smoothie bar.
Dedicated to more than trends and come-and-go coffee fads, Kookaburra’s staff prides itself on customer education. “We have different types of drip coffees that all come from different origins and regions, which gives them different taste profiles and levels of acidity. We’re not afraid to try a different method of preparation, or to play around with flavors for a unique cup. We feel that has set the bar for Kookaburra against local competitors.”
Arias explained the choice in Malverne had a lot to do with their dedication to hyper locality. And Kookaburra plans to pay it forward by being a part of events in both Rockville Centre and Malverne. “Malverne was right for us because it solely supports local businesses. We care deeply for customer service and being an integral part of the community that we serve.”
