Suffolk County may be at risk for an alien invasion, at least according to locals and visitors who reported UFO sightings. From 2001-15, Suffolk County topped the state in UFO sightings with 554, authors Cheryl and Linda Miller Costa wrote in their new book “UFO Sightings Desk Reference.”

The Syracuse-based couple looked at 121,036 reports compiled by the Mutual UFO Network and National UFO Reporting Center, which collect eyewitness accounts of UFO sightings. The 371-page book offers the first comprehensive summary of the nation’s encounters with the unidentifiable.    

Manhattan’s 426 claims ranked second and Nassau County eyewitnesses reported 276. California led the country with 15,836 UFO reports.
