A popular summertime spot with waterfront views, this Fire Island staple is a fun place to catch live music. Opened in 1937, Flynn’s music calendar is loaded with different acts. There’s “Sunday Funday” taking place throughout the summer with reggae star King Wellington and his band Earth People. Other acts not to miss include Los Angeles-based 1960s psychedelic rock band The Zoo and Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime, which honors the popular American ska punk band. John Scott’s Surf Shack, Westhampton Beach

Avoid pretentious vibes and head to John Scott’s Surf Shack this summer. Live music takes place during dinnertime on the casual outdoor patio.
