Frost it Your Way at Dough Me A Flavor in Wantagh

Think of your favorite doughnut. Now think of a flavor combination you have always wanted to try. Any way you frost it, Dough Me A Flavor in Wantagh can create it.

“We can tailor to every customer’s individual [doughnut] creation as long as we have what we need to do so in-house,” said Justin McCarthy, who opened the shop with partner Rikki Giordano in July. “Say you didn’t exactly want a s’mores doughnut, but you wanted the fudgy marshmallow filling inside with coffee crumbs on top, we will do what we can to bring it to life.”

The “If you can dream it…We can dough it” tagline extends to another aspect of the shop: the Sweet Street Bar. Customers are treated with a familiar experience one would have at Moe’s Southwest Grill where they dress their own doughnut. Between 14 different toppings, drizzles and frostings, the flavor profiles get sweeter by the minute.

Customers can anticipate drizzles like peanut butter fudge, caramel and jelly and toppings ranging anywhere from candies to cake bites and cereal.

For those who have a harder time making decisions, someone else can do the work. The store’s Dough Pro team is constantly coming up with delicious pre-made options like the candied maple bacon doughnut, a ring style doughnut with maple glaze and candied applewood smoked bacon diced on top. Or the notable s’mores doughnut, a shell doughnut filled with marshmallow and chocolate fudge, dipped in chocolate ganache and finished with roasted marshmallows and graham cracker crumbs. The smell alone takes diners on a trip down memory lane, with a smoky campfire taste to boot.

And since all the doughnuts are yeast raised, they are lighter, fluffier and almost double the size of a cake style doughnut. But the appeal doesn’t stop there. The space sports bright colors, a long white counter with stools and an overall energetic vibe.

“We want to bring out the inner kid in everyone and [for them to] be able to think outside of the box and really have fun with it. As far as kids go, [we want them to] let their creativity and imaginations run wild and make the experience as fun and as crazy as they would like.”
