
Millions paused to look up and take in the first total solar eclipse in the United States in 99 years. The 70-mile path of totality stretched from Oregon to South Carolina. Long Islanders saw a partial eclipse with about 25 percent of the sun still visible. The peak moments last mere minutes. Ten photos will last forever.
