How do you help customers feel comfortable when they come in?
One thing I always say is, “No judgment at Wax Republic!” We’re friendly and we put people at ease by keeping the conversation flowing. We take pride in having a vested interest in our customers and know everyone by name. Over the years, we’ve gotten to know their family members, significant others and children—it’s a very warm, upbeat environment.
What’s so special about your Brazilian Bikini Wax?
Our technique! I personally train all of our estheticians to complete the Brazilian with precision and speed in just 15 minutes. The clients’ experience is consistent no matter who they book with. Our high-quality Italian wax is super gentle and formulated for sensitive skin, so it works well on everyone. Customers always comment, “Wow that’s it! I’m done already?”
What are some services you provide for men?
I was shocked at how many men were coming in when we opened! We pretty much do everything for men that we do for women, with the exception of the male Brazilian. Back waxing is by far the most requested service. Other popular services are their chest, stomach and brows. Men are funny. They always say “Don’t overdo it on my eyebrows.” And we always tell them, “We’ll make it look like you were never here!”
What should people know before coming to get waxed?
Most important is having the proper amount of hair growth—about three to four weeks. We encourage clients to avoid caffeine because it constricts blood vessels and heightens sensitivity. Taking Ibuprofen about an hour prior is also recommended to reduce any potential inflammation.
What about for spray tanning?
No body lotions or oils and exfoliate the skin really well. Nails, hair and any waxing need to be done prior. Spray tanning is your last stop on the beauty circuit. Our spray tan is done by airbrush and takes a mere 15 minutes. Clients can walk right out the door and go about their day. It’s odorless and dries immediately leaving you with a natural, sun-kissed glow.
For customers coming to your salon to get ready for the holidays, what would you recommend they do?
Brow shaping! It’s definitely one of our fortes. We trim, wax, tweeze and assist with some fantastic filler techniques. Our estheticians are taking their time to ensure the brow shape matches your face shape. It’s really the attention to detail in our work that sets us apart.
