Word about a new restaurant spreads like wildfire around Long Island, especially when it includes fresh dishes and an innovative cocktail menu. Suffolk residents are in luck as a slew of delicious new restaurants are set to open in 2018. These five especially will have foodies returning for more.

New restaurants and shops are constantly opening in Bay Shore. Among them is the completely renovated old Friendly’s building on West Main Street filled with white subway tile and new stainless steel pizza ovens. Named Slice of Bay Shore, the new Italian restaurant is set to open in a few weeks. One look behind the counter and customers will see seasoned local chef John Digirolamo who worked at Mamma Santina in Brightwaters for 20 years. A peek at the menu reveals dishes like portobello mushrooms stuffed with polenta, asiago cheese and prosciutto, angel hair pasta with arugula, pecorino and walnuts and an escarole and meatball soup. The Bean of Patchogue, Patchogue

The Bean of Patchogue, owned by Rob Cutrone, will be taking over the Queen City Cupcakes location on West Main Street. In addition to barista drinks, it will serve breakfast and lunch items, bakery goods and acai bowls (like the Bay Shore and Babylon locations). There will also be open mic nights and live music. Co-owner of the PeraBell Food Bar restaurants on Long Island, John Peragine is bringing New York style pizza to Patchogue.
