5 Healthy & Delicious Spots to Eat on Long Island

Clean eating has been at the forefront for some time now. Consumers are becoming more educated and caring more about what they are putting into their bodies. (Yay!) But that doesn’t mean a dinner date is out of the question. Long Island has plenty of options where patrons can grab a tasty and healthy meal and even a green juice to boot. I’m filling you in on five of my favorite Long Island spots that make healthy eating delicious.

Bee Organic, Great Neck and Huntington

Between its clean and organic meals, you can’t go wrong at Bee Organic. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, its lengthy menu includes salads, entrees, tartines and crepes. There are vegan options as well as sensibly sourced salmon and organic eggs for breakfast. The tasty green juices are another plus. My picks: lentil soup, kale butternut squash soup, happy cow (tartine with tomato, avocado, sprouts, feta, cheese and mayo), veggie burger Click to go

Bareburger, Great Neck, Port Washington, Plainview and Rockville Centre

Believe it or not, this spot also offers a few healthier options. Opt for a vegetable burger and choose from a large list of toppings served on your choice of bun or non-bun. You can go gluten-free, whole grain or even choose a collard green wrap. The chain also offers a nice assortment of healthy organic salads and the much talked about organic non-GMO beyond burger. It’s a meat alternative akin to the real deal—pink juice and all. My picks: Cali fresh salad and Thai chia vegan burger (with vegan cheese) Click to go

Organic Krush, Woodbury, Amagansett, Lake Success and New Hyde Park

This superstar is growing like gangbusters! There are several locations, each offering a wide variety of cold-pressed juices and smoothies, along with acai and pitaya bowls. Breakfast options include housemade granola, sweet potato hash, avocado toast and a chocolate chip cookie dough protein bar. My picks: Smooth sailing (a delicious beet juice), roast salad or wrap (sweet potatoes and kale) and the Mediterranean salad or wrap (with falafel and yogurt sauce) Click to go

Rising Tide, Glen Cove

A true favorite, Rising Tide is the perfect place to incorporate specialty ingredients into your health plan. In addition to being an astute grocer, it has a delicious and popular prepared foods section offering takeout lunch or dinner, along with smoothies and fresh juice. This is a great place to pick up dinner for the family. Expect a large assortment of expertly crafted organic vegetables, seaweeds, roasted organic chicken, wild caught salmon and an assortment of vegetable burgers. My picks: All of the veggie burgers, green juices, arame salad, sweet potatoes, sprouted salads Click to go

The Shed, Huntington

One of the best parts about The Shed is that organic eggs are always available. Dig into an organic omelet with veggies and rest easy. The restaurant also offers a lovely quinoa salad, stacked with walnuts, brussel sprouts and roasted beets. Another healthy favorite is the avocado toast, and for breakfast you can order it with a poached organic egg. My picks: omelet, quinoa stack, avocado toast Click to go
