Adding personality to summer getups, a fresh pair of sunglasses can keep you cool in more ways than one. Trendy designs and functional lenses make hiding from the heat a stylish activity.
“Every shade is a different look and possibility,” said celebrity wardrobe stylist Ali Levine of Ali Levine Design. “Remember the world is your runway.”
Between the many different styles out there, Levine narrowed down the four best picks for summer 2018.
Fun, chic and often polarized, tinted lenses work wonders in the summer. In addition to giving you the perfect pop of color, polarized lenses from brands like Fendi and Tom Ford are specifically engineered to reduce sun glare. “They are also super fun with an all black outfit or little black dress,” said Levine.
Can you ever have too much sparkle? Think bejeweled shades, pearls, gems and oodles of decorative details. “The more is more theory works here,” said Levine. She is a fan of the shade detailing from the carefully handcrafted Obsessed Shades. “It dials up any look and is the perfect accessory.”
Retro Cat Eye
Perfectly round yet flared out near the temple, the cat eye adds a “sexy feel.” And they are extremely versatile. Pair them with a cardigan and jeans, a vest and skirt or any dress and the results tend to be awe-inspiring. Levine recommended styles from Dior and Celine.
Bringing a little bit of winter into summer may have sounded like a bad idea last year, but frames that resemble ski goggles are now so in. Known for making a statement, this fun shape also adds an edge. “Pair them with a shoulder top and jean shorts and platform sandals or high top sneakers, and you have the perfect cool girl vibes,” said Levine. She suggested any of the chic styles from Carrera.
