July picks for 92.9 and 96.9 WEHM New Release Tuesdays (airing every Tuesday from 9-10pm) are a marriage of quiet and loud tunes

New Jersey natives The Gaslight Anthem are about to release their fourth album Handwritten containing the leadoff single “45.” The song is appropriately anthemic with a hard-driving beat and declaratory vocals—a concise slice of contemporary rock with an aggressive edge.

Alt-rock veteran Citizen Cope returns with One Lovely Day featuring the eponymous title track. His acoustic guitar, gritty, expressive vocals and a knack for chorus hooks are in evidence and the gentle orchestral backing is a nice touch.

British soul sensation Michael Kiwanuka just released his first full-length album Home Again and the track “I’m Getting Ready.” There is a mellow wisdom in his Otis Redding-like vocals and the backing music is like a sweet lullaby.
