WHERE to MEET to begin HIKE:
End of Reservoir Rd. Melville

First we will take a nature walk/hike on the trails 1/2 mile from Walt Whitman’s House
We will explore “Jaynes Hill” highest point on Long Island and Toads Pond
NOTE – Elevated Hike with Stairs and Dirt path *Intermediate level

12pm a private professional tour of the restored farmhouse and birthplace of America’s greatest poet, built c.1819 by Whitman’s father. Walt Whitmans house is a New York State Historic Site, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has nineteenth century furnishings, unusual architecture and lots of exhibits, Whitman portraits and artifacts.
