Presented by Hofstra Professor James Kolb. Commissioned for the Cairo Opera House in Egypt, Aïda tells the story of a captive Ethiopian princess, Aïda, and her rivalry with Amneris, daughter of the King of Egypt. Constructed as a grand opera in the French style, Aïda contains passionate singing in arias, duets, and ensembles, a famous triumphal march and extensive dance sequences. Video excerpts will accompany this presentation. Registration begins September 2nd. Free
