Alan Zweibel, producer & writer who has worked on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ and ‘It’s Garry Shandling’s Show,’ will discuss his new book, “For This We Left Egypt?, A Passover Haggadah for Jews and Those Who Love Them,” at Temple Israel of Lawrence, 140 Central Avenue, Lawrence, N.Y., on Sunday, March 28, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.
This Haggadah comes from the comedic minds of Dave Barry, Alan Zweibel and Adam Mansbach, and it is no ordinary Haggadah. If you’ve ever suffered through a seder, you are well aware of the fact that the entire evening can last as long as the exodus from Egypt itself. There are countless stories, dozens of blessings and far too many handwashings while the meal turns cold. Now prepare to be entertained by this hilarious parody of the book that’s responsible for this interminable tradition.
Alan Zweibel was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Woodmere. He is a writer and producer, known for being one of the original writers for ‘Saturday Night Live’ (1975-’80). Zweibel wrote many memorable characters, including Samurai for John Belushi and Roseanne Roseannadanna and Emily Litella for Gilda Radner. Zweibel has won multiple Emmy, Writers Guild of America and TV Critics awards for his work in television, which also includes ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and ‘Monk.’
