FORUM – Anti-Semitism on College Campuses

Almost every day we learn about another instance of anti-Semitism on a college campus. National Council of Jewish Women, Peninsula Section is convinced that the issue is too serious to be allowed to fester unchallenged. Our children, a most vulnerable and impressionable population, are often targeted with blatant lies substituting “Zionism” and “Israel” for “Jew.” Spontaneous student confrontations and organized demonstrations on campus are being addressed as “free speech” issues instead of hate crimes. We hope to create awareness and supply responses. The theme of the evening is “Be Aware-Be Prepared”.

As is evident by the enclosed flyer, NCJW Peninsula Section has picked up the challenge to educate college-bound students, parents and members of our community and to provide the necessary tools to respond. The college campus is a venue for the exchange of ideas; not the spread of misinformation.

The inter-active panel is set and now we need your help with outreach. Publicity is key to our success. Articles in your publications, electronic communications, and posting of the attached flyer would be greatly appreciated.

We hope to attract a large audience to this FREE program which is co-sponsored by the Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Centre. All are welcome to participate on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, 7:00-9:00 pm at HERJC. Please call the NCJW office at 516-569-3660 for additional information.
