On Saturday, December 9th, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company will host their latest exhibition, “Helmut,” featuring the artwork of Greenport artist Shannon Guyer in her debut solo exhibition.
The Germanic word for the protector of the mind and spirit, “Helmut” gathers Shannon Guyer’s paintings to create a show of cerebral, gestural abstractions. A senior at Savannah College of Art and Design, her work focuses on the creation of texture and tension, skewing convention with her use of spray paint, house paint, and plaster. The result is a series of monochromatic pieces that convey depth and the mingling of light and shadow that demand a longer look at the textures she manipulates.
The opening reception will be held at Greenport Harbor Brewing Company’s Greenport location at 234 Carpenter Street on Saturday, December 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. “Helmut” will be on display until February 28, 2018. Light fare and newly released brews on tap.
