All the way from New Orleans, Sherry Dooley returns for a Solo Show, bringing her colorful, buoyant work back to the walls of RIPE Art Gallery!
Join us for an Opening Reception on November 18, 2016- from 7-10pm to welcome “Half the Population”, a solo show by Sherry Dooley.
Dooley says this about her newest series, “Women make up half the population in our world, yet they still are not valued as much as men, even in America. Many have no access to education, and that’s downright wrong. We, the world, are missing out when girls and women are not valued. The book Half The Sky, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, inspired this series.”
Influenced by Frida Kahlo, and Gustov Klimt, Dooley paints stories without words, allowing the viewer to decide what they want the story to be. She can be found most days in her “office”, selling her art on the street in the French Quarter. We are big fans of hers, and we’re honored to have her work return to us on Long Island!
