The Hampton Ballet Theatre School (HBTS) is excited to premiere their new spring production of the ballet “Coppelia” on Friday, April 8th at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Guild Hall’s beautiful John Drew Theater (158 Main Street, East Hampton). Advanced ticket sales are $20 for children (under 12 years of age) and $25 for adults for general orchestra seating. Day of performance tickets sales are $25 for children (under 12 years of age) and $30 for adults for regular orchestra seating. Premium orchestra, box seats, balcony and group rates are also available.
The score is by Leo Delibes and the ballet is choreographed by the director of HBTS, Sara Jo Strickland and includes beautiful costumes designed and hand sewn by Yuka Silvera and lighting design by Sebastian Paczynski. Guest artists include Nicholas Sipes dancing the role of Franz and Adam and Gail Baranello of A&G Dance Company dancing the divertissment, “War.” Rose Kelly an Advanced Professional Student Level 6 at HBTS will be dancing the role of Swanhilda.
“Coppelia” is a springtime comedic delight! The courtship of Swanhilda and Franz, and the doll, Coppelia, who Franz mistakenly courts, along with Dr. Coppelius’ bumbling antics will enchant young and old. The villagers traditional dances in Act 1 and the “Festival of the Bell” in Act 3 will have you dancing in your seats! Be sure not to miss this beautiful springtime treat!
