About the Instructor:
Melanie Castillo has been training since the age of five years old. Known for her powerful footwork, and the presence she delivers on the dance floor, she has trained with many prominent figures in the latin community including: Sekou Mcmiller, Nelson Flores, Tito and Tamara, Billy Fajardo, and Anya Katsevman. In 2011, she started competing with Elvis Collado. Together, they took first place in the following: IHSC 2012, NYISC 2012, and WSS Just Dance Division 2013.

In 2012, she co-founded the group “Las Damas” while working with Ismael Otero and Caribbean Soul, as well as her own dance team, which she called “Candela Dance Company.” Currently, Melanie Castillo has ended her partnership with Elvis Collado, and works exclusively with the groups Caribbean Soul, Las Damas, and Candela Dance Company. When she is not teaching at Piel Canela, or Balmir Latin Dance studio in NY, she can be found traveling throughout the world, both performing and teaching her theories and styles with the Latin dance community.
