The “Layers” of this exhibition refer to the many acts of artistic synthesis involved in creating the work. Whether literal, involving adding and/or taking away layers of paint and mixed media materials, or symbolic, involving the thoughtful building on past work and artistic concepts, the twelve artists represented here deal in layers, including oil and acrylic paint, ink, aluminum, photography and collage. They welcome you to search for visible layers, and to contemplate their underlying conceptual ideas when you explore the multiple facets of the work in this exhibition.
