Filled with hot Latin Jazz sounds and soaring band solos, Charlie Parker gave another one of his greatest performances paying tribute to the best in Latin American music on the blockbuster South of the Border album in 1953. South Of The Border showcased Parker’s series of dazzling takes on Latin Jazz hits done with stunning vitality that he performed with world class greatness and astonishing provocation, making it a huge hit on the jazz charts. This concert is a tribute the late Charlie Parker and his involvement with Machito and the Latin/Jazz tinge. Featuring select recordings from the South of the Border album fused with original South African compositions, the concert will be led by the incomparable Morris Goldberg.

The South of the Border All Star Band features Morris Goldberg on Saxophone and Penny Whistle, Diego Urcola on Trumpet, Bill O’Connell on Piano, Marcus McLaurine on Bass, Mayra Casales on Congas, and Claes Brondal on Drums.
