The annual New York Lupus Handbag Luncheon gathers hundreds of women prominent in the city’s philanthropic community for a fundraising event to further research that can transform patients’ lives while we drive toward a cure.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), or lupus, is a chronic, complex and serious autoimmune disease affecting more than 1.5 million Americans. Nine out of 10 people with lupus are women. Lupus is a leading cause of premature cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and stroke among young women.
