“Pastrami On Rye” is the first full-length history of the New York Jewish deli. For much of the 20th Century, the N.Y. Jewish deli was an iconic institution in both Jewish and American life. Author Ted Merwin presents a fascinating history of a quintessential N.Y. instutution.
Ted Merwin, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Religion & Judaic Studies at Dickinson College (Pa.), where he is Founding Director of the Milton B. Asbell Center for Jewish Life.
