Plant & Sing, a festival of bluegrass and traditional American music celebrating local food and community, returns to historic Sylvester Manor on Shelter Island on Saturday, October 11.
Musical headliners Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche will be joined by The Deadly Gentleman and other five other critically acclaimed bands, plus a collection of nationally recognized food writers, poets and thinkers.
Plant & Sing is the harvest festival made new, celebrating the culture of food: growing, eating, writing and singing. People gather to plant garlic and harvest fall crops in the morning and enjoy world-class bluegrass and traditional American music in the afternoon. As many as 1,000 attendees will savor locally produced libations and food while kicking back to amazing music as the sun sets over Gardiner’s Creek. The evening is capped off with a creekside contra dance.
