Frank Ohman’s New York Dance Theatre presents its 33rd season of “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 19 at 2:00 & 7:00 pm, and Dec. 20 and 21 at 12:00 and 5:00 pm. Tickets are $40 ($35 sr./ch) and are available on line at www.ohmanballet.org or by calling 631.462.0964. Tickets for the Friday 2:00 p.m. show are $20 for all ages. Ohman’s production is the largest Nutcracker on Long Island with added music, scenes and dances. Guest artists include Dance Theatre of Harlem’s DaVon Doane, MOMIX principal dancer Nicole Loizides, NYDT’s own Andrea Cillo and several artists from NYC companies. Frank Ohman, Long Island’s only direct link to George Balanchine, will appear as the mysterious “Herr Drosselmeir” on the Friday and Saturday evening shows. Maximilian Lendegger, who performed the role of the young Prince at Lincoln Center for the last two years, will appear as one of the princes in Ohman’s production this year. In all, a cast of eighty children, pre-professional and professional dancers will bring this charming story ballet to life on the stage of the John Cranford Adams Playhouse. This holiday classic appeals to all ages with its elegant Christmas Party Scene, its fierce battle between toy soldiers and giant muce, its dazzling live snowstorm, and its brilliant choreography and dancing.
