Three Myths of Jewish Genealogy

55 Vanderbilt Parkway
Dix Hills, New York 11746

Presented by Chuck Weinstein, Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island. This program will shed light on stories you may have heard from family members, including “the name was changed at Ellis Island”, “the town was destroyed in the war”, and “the Germans destroyed the records.” This is a talk about the sources of information available to anyone getting started in tracing his Jewish roots, and although the focus will be on Eastern Europe, the sources and the processes described are useful for people whose ancestors came from almost anywhere in the world. Chuck Weinstein has been researching his family roots in eastern Europe for over 20 years. During that time, he has become active and involved in the genealogy community, recently serving as President of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island. 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Registration begins September 2nd. Free
