The view of the Long Island Sound is one reason to head over to Kontokosta. The selection of wines like Orient Chardonnay and Estate Merlot is another. The popular Greenport winery, which usually attracts a crowd in its large outdoor field during summertime, is open for daily wine flights ($15 per person) and more elaborate tours ($35 per person) on the weekend. Guests are given menus with an assortment of wine flights to choose from. Long Island Spirits, Baiting Hollow

Long Island Spirits, the first craft distillery on Long Island since the 1800s, is located amidst 5,000 acres of potatoes for harvest. For a refined palate, this distillery offers tastings which showcase an array of artisan vodka and whiskey beverages sourced fresh from the farm. Enjoy a flight of three spirits for $11 or three whiskies for $16. Both options come with a custom tasting glass. Those who prefer vodka can instead taste one of the $15 craft cocktails, including this season’s gourmet bloodmary made with LiV Vodka, Holy Schmidt’s horseradish, a special blend of spices and V8 juice garnished with Backyard Brine pickles, olives and celery. Get your beer fix at this Riverhead gem founded by local Long Island husband and wife duo, Matthew and Lauri Spitz. Established in 2012, the Moustache Brewing Company offers freshly brewed craft beer which is also featured in bars across Long Island.
