Right shoe game
Average sneakers should stay in the gym, but dressier ones are perfect for an evening out. “Every man needs a pair of black, brown or navy dressy sneakers in his closet,” Harrison said. “They are more relaxed than a dress shoe, but dressy enough to wear to dinner, a gallery opening or a party.” The footwear, she added, pairs well with dark wash denim jeans, a button-down or tee and blazer. The gift of customization
A custom look is a game changer. Whether it’s a suit, shirt or sport coat, every man needs one (or all!) of these in the perfect fit. Harrison suggested getting the man in your life a gift certificate to a tailor to help nail down an “impeccable” fit. “When something is too big and baggy, or too tight and pulling, it can actually make you look bigger than you are,” she said. “The only problem is he may never be able to go back to off the rack!” She recommends: Ian Rios New York.
Gym chic
The gym is also a place to be fashion-forward. And sophisticated gym bags are a must. “It kills me to see guys going to work in the morning all decked out in their custom suit, sharp shirt and tie combo and they’re carrying a backpack (often with their company’s logo on it) to hit the gym after work,” Harrison said.
