In the heart of one of Long Island’s most charming villages sits The Shipyard at Port Jefferson. The modern, maritime-inspired community isn’t only a stylish and relaxing place to call home, it’s loaded with amenities and situated in an incomparable location. With a storied history and spacious apartments boasting waterfront views, see why The Shipyard at Port Jefferson may just be the perfect option for you.
A coastal history
Port Jefferson, as it was named in 1836 after Thomas Jefferson who helped fund the area, was a shipbuilding town for more than 100 years from about 1797 to the 1920s. Focusing on building and supporting ships that participated in coastal freighting trades, Port Jefferson became the largest shipbuilding industry in Suffolk County. Residents of The Shipyard can see some of the history every day with historic images that have been blown up and hung, including an image that reads “Port Jefferson Shipyard.”
Luxury living
Living at The Shipyard comes with a slew of perks. There are 27 different floor plans offering a variety of options to fit the taste of nearly every tenant. However every resident is guaranteed a spacious, open concept with apartments featuring vinyl plan flooring, nine-foot ceilings, stainless steel appliances, washer and dryers and abundant storage. What’s even better? Units have plenty of windows—many even featuring either full or Juliette balconies—allowing residents to take in the gorgeous Port Jefferson views. That’s not all: these lucky residents (spanning from their early 20s through 80s) also have access to a full fitness center, a large plaza with multiple BBQ stations and a fire pit, as well as covered, reserved parking, a bicycle repair area and pet spa for their four-legged friends. There’s even a beautifully appointed club room with original artwork, fireplace and a unique rustic wood finish pool table. As if that’s not enough, residents can also head upstairs to a rooftop deck that seats 67 people and offers some more spectacular views. Are you sold? One-bedroom apartments range from $2,350-$3,175 while two-bedrooms range from $2,850-$4,183.
A perfect village
Location makes The Shipyard even more special. Sitting at the mouth of the harbor, The Shipyard is just steps away from everything the thriving Village of Port Jefferson has to offer. And Port Jefferson does have it all. Think a wide range of delicious restaurants—spaghetti from Pasta Pasta and a nice dry-aged steak from Old Fields. There are trendy boutiques like Kate & Hale and Fame and Rebel, as well as shops like East End Shirt Company letting Long Islanders show off their local pride and Home Kingdom selling nautically-inspired home decor. There are also plenty of ways to stay entertained, including the Theater Three, fishing charters, places to play golf and tennis, the Maritime Explodium and the gorgeous Harborfront Park. Events also take place all year-round like December’s Dicken’s Festival and the Dragon Boat Race Festival in September. Those seeking to take a short trip away from Port Jefferson can take the train to Manhattan or hop on the Bridgeport Port Jefferson Ferry to Connecticut. But one thing is for sure: returning home will never be a disappointment.
